I delight in self-portraiture
Woman said she loved me
Woman said take
Woman said yes
Woman said, woman said
I want the pictures in your head
The ones no one can have
I want the dreams you paint at night
The ones that scare you so bad
You leap straight out of bed swingin'
Screaming like an animal
I want unconditional communication
I don't want to talk about it!
Little girl said she wanted it
Little girl screamed
Girl said she needed it
And it scared the hell out of her
There's a bright ball I used to play with
I don't know where it is
I kept it in a safe place
Someone must have stolen it
Or it's in a June field tall with grass
Where I still run in deep
I can only find that field when I'm lost
Even lost things need a place to go
A place where they can be found
By wandering boys on summer days
That are suddenly dark and stormy
Woman says give
Woman says tell
Woman says share
She takes my ball and runs away
I'll never find it now
